Free upgrade to a very nice room with leather settee and chair. Full English breakfast was excellent. Very pleasant staff.

Beds need replacing would have been comfier sleeping in the car. The whole hotel is very tired and needs refurbishment. I would not stay again .

The room that we had was well past it's sell by date. Stained bath, hard, lumpy bed, the 'tiling on a roll' coming off the walls in the bathroom etc

Comfort and relaxing for a great price

My father myself and my sister stayed for one night. the staff were super, the beds comfortable, the food excellent. the hotel is pleasantly eccentric and we liked it very much. It's not a bang up to date replica of a Hilton or a Premier Inn, but it had character and helpfulness and friendliness were there in abundance.

the decor in the entrance and in reception could do with improving but that's about all really.

Good food, comfortable at a reasonable price

A bit dated and heard running water all night

      The staff were very friendly

I booked a twin bedded room for my son and myself. The three rooms that were initially offered were not suitable for staying in. The mattresses were not fit for purpose. They were totally beyond any reasonable condition to expect a good night's sleep. I reported this to the hotel reception, who were very obliging, and finally found a room that we could stay in. I also had to ask for a sanitary bin for the bathroom, as one was not in situ. this I found to be embarrassing. The whole checking in experience was not good, as I had been driving most of the day, in extremely bad weather, and just wanted to relax.

The meal we had in the evening was excellent - well cooked, tasty and the menu offered lots of choice. Breakfast was also very enjoyable with plenty of choice, the hot food was well cooked and the bacon was delicious. Well done on the food front. Bathroom in room 124 was very nice and modern, shower was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful, called taxi for us and, as this was our first time in Middlesborough, gave us useful information about the area.

Room 124 had twin beds, the mattress on the bed nearest the door needs replacing, it's basically collapsed and you can feel the springs in your back. The other bed was fine. A couple of hooks in the bathroom would have been useful. I couldn't get the TV to work for me, maybe an idiots guide in the room would be useful for us technically challenged types. The place looks a bit run down generally, frayed carpets in places, the paintwork/varnishwork was chipped and tired and needs a makeover

We had a lovely evening, food was pleasant, staff very nice.

It's quite an old hotel and looking a bit shabby, but it was very clean which is more important.

I went for the Club Fiesta re-union which was being held at the Marton Hotel so it was convenient to stay overnight - it hosted the evening very well.

Everything was rather dated and a bit shabby - also extremely hot even though the radiator in the room was turned off and the fan was on. It made sleep quite difficult.
